Perth: Final two sketching days

March 15, 2018 | 5 Comments

After 3 very productive sketching days, I then had a few quieter ones.

On the Friday we (Lynne, John and I) went for a walk through the Botanic Gardens and then along the Swan River. The only sketch I did (during this adventure) was of this tree in the gardens at the start of the day.

The other things we did/saw which I didn’t sketch were:

Very interesting Western Australian trees and plants in the Botanic Gardens.

The iconic boat shed

Black Swans

Amazing jellyfish (the one on the right is Lynne’s photo of a live version)

Lovely view of the city after a late lunch.

We ended the day catching up with more of the local Urban Sketchers at another evening food market. I was more interested in being social than doing a proper sketch.

A fun night!

Saturday

On Saturday I picked up a car and we drove to the Swan Valley for the day. Once again I didn’t do a lot of sketching but I am pleased with this combo page containing: a sketch while we were waiting to pick up the car, a line drawing of the view from lunch and a cup of tea.

I didn’t take many photos either… but here are a few.

A nice walk through the streets of Guildford, enjoying it’s historic buildings.

Lynne thought I should take a photo of this wall – I wonder why?

One of the many wineries in the Swan Valley. We drove around enjoying the scenery (though a little flat for my liking) and did a few tastings – wine, cheese, fudge and chocolate. A nice relaxing Saturday.

On Sunday I visited two ‘sister’ churches to my own and didn’t touch my sketchbook. Monday I left to come home and you can see what I did at the airport here.

I had a fantastic time in Perth. It was great to spend some quality time with Lynne and John, and it was lovely to meet some local sketchers. It was my first trip to WA and I hope to be able to return soon!
