I’m very excited to share with you a podcast interview I did recently with the wonderful Nishant Jain from The SneakyArt Postcast. Click here to listen!
We had a super lively conversation about my architectural background, my transition to becoming a teacher and full-time urban sketcher and the way I approach sketching. I’m really happy with the title Nishant gave this episode as I work really hard to make it look easy – to be able to work quickly with ease and accuracy.
Long-time readers of this blog will have seen my journey – how I left my architectural career and started teaching – but this podcast interview contains the fullest version of my story I’ve ever shared.
It was a real treat to have such a rich conversation about art covering a lot of ground – we talked a lot about how my architectural background affects my sketching. It was great to discuss art concepts rather than just materials and/or techniques!
I love discovering how differently we all see the world and how this impacts the stories we create in our work. The long in-depth format of this podcast allows for this type of discussion which is really special! So… if you haven’t already, I suggest that you check out the other guests on the Sneaky Art podcast here.
Here are a few quotes from the interview…
I hope that you enjoy listening to this conversation. Here is the link again to the episode.
Thanks Nishant for inviting me to be a guest on your podcast and for the wonderful chat!

Liz – you gave a wonderful interview! I’ve been listening to The Sneaky Art podcast almost from the start. Nishant asks excellent questions. My husband’s father and grandfather were both architects and I very much enjoyed hearing you share some new details about your work as an architect (I’d NEVER have guessed you designed TV studios! 🙂
Thank you for being so generous with your knowledge through well-crafted blogs, superb courses and terrific interviews. You have grown in me a real passion and ability to keep a sketchbook!
Thanks Susanna!!!!
Thank you so much. I really enjoyed listening to this, I learn so much from your approach to sketching, I found this interview particularly good for some background on how you work and what is important to you, mind sets I could do with developing. Not sure though I can imagine TV studios… Hadn’t come across this podcast before, so have a little project now for the next few days!
