Just a quick post today to share my last sketch of 2018.
NYE was very quiet for me and I was asleep when midnight struck. Earlier in the evening I had fun sketching my new cup and pot and experimenting with watery washes and gel pens (white and gold). This isn’t the final version of page but it’s the last photo I took.
Today I woke up early and so my usual 6am walk was more like 5.30am. It was lovely to see the early light of 2019 and as always I was happy to hear the call of a whip bird. A perfect way to start my year.
For me the coming of a new year is a time for quiet reflection rather than big light shows, crowds, parties and noise. This year it was REALLY quiet and I loved it!
Happy New Year to you all!

Hi Liz, your final 2018 sketch is stunning, gorgeous blues, greens and golds and I am so pleased you chose the tea set as it is so you! I completed your on line watercolour course in 2018 and learned lots of really good ways of thinking about and doing watercolours that I am now practising nearly every day. So thank you for the insights into your life and the generous sharing of knowledge and experience in your blog. I am looking forward to following what you do in 2019 and wish you a successful, joyful and peaceful year ahead.
Thanks JJ! I’m so happy to hear that you are now sketching regularly. Keep it up!
What more could I say? All was said by jjbyrn…

Loved the call of the whip bird.

thanks Joyce!
Hi Liz, Your inspiration brings peace and happiness. Thank you for sharing your passion. The call of the whip bird was literally a piece of summer in the midst of a dreary winter day around these parts.
Thanks Evie!!!! I’m glad you enjoyed the whip bird too!
Happy New Year Liz! May 2019 be the best year yet!
Thanks Sharon!!!!!!
Happy New Year, Liz!
Thank you for the beauty and Joy you have brought to so many of us throughout the past year. I so appreciate your enthusiasm and generous spirit, as well as your skill as an artist and teacher.
All good wishes to you in the year ahead.
Thank you Eleanor. Hope 2019 is great for you!
Thank you Liz
I read and enjoy your blogs…keep going!

thanks Sarah!
Love the sketch of your teapot and cup!!! I love the vibrant blue design. I was in bed asleep by 10:00. I’ve never gone for the big “excitement” that New Year’s Eve brings. I’d rather have a cocktail and nice dinner at home with my husband and a few slow dances to Rod Stewart while dinner is cooking. Happy 2019! May it be a happy, healthy, inspired year for you.
thanks Joan- happy New Year to you!
Happy New Year Liz, I like the idea of adding something something different with a gel pen, given me something to think about. Looking forward to seeing your work and travels across the coming year!
