Just a quick post today to let you all know that I’m safely back home after my epic 14 weeks in Europe.
I managed to get all my stuff home thanks to an extra suitcase and purchasing some extra baggage allowance. These suitcases contain 7 x A4 Moleskine sketchbooks and three huge and heavy canvas bags filled with art supplies and books which I picked up along the way (a lot of it was given to me during the USK symposium in Amsterdam – the goodies bags were amazing this year). Note: I shipped 6 x A4 Moleskines home at the 6 week mark from Italy.
It is lovely to be home, see my family again and be greeted by sunny 20C Sydney winter weather!
It is also nice to get back to my local cafes, see the staff again and enjoy some great Australian coffee.
And of course it’s even more satisfying to have a good cuppa tea – I’ve been drinking good loose leaf tea during my trip, but it’s nice to be able to make a pot and drink it out of one of my teacups.
I worked a lot on SketchingNow projects while I was in Europe, so it’s nice to be home and able to focus on work without the temptation to sketch new and exciting places. The longing to sketch is still strong, but I love my work a lot and I’m excited to focus fully on my next online course Watercolour On Location which is coming out really really soon! It’s also nice to be back to a proper work environment = a big screen and a comfortable chair! No more uncomfortable hotel room conditions. (Is it a bit tragic that I’m so happy about home because of work?)
I have a lot to share from my two weeks in Amsterdam, so I still have a lot of do before I can fully wrap up the trip. It might take me a while before I have the time to do it justice so I just want to take a moment today to say…
Thanks for coming along with me on my travels and a huge thank you to everyone who has left a comment! Getting your messages means a lot to me especially when I’m travelling solo – even though I don’t always get around to replying.
Thanks again!

Thanks for your wonderful workshop in Amsterdam, I really enjoyed it and learned a lot.
Hi Martine – so great to hear!
Not tragic at all – godliness with contentment is great gain!
🙂 thanks!
Glad to hear you’re happily home. Thank you for the wonderful Umbrian lessons. The memories will be with me for a lifetime.
Hi Sharon- so lovely to see you again!!! And yes Umbria was so much fun!
Enjoyed seeing the countries you visited through your sketches and posts. Looking forward to the Watercolour course.
Thanks Caroline – me too!
I don’t know how you manage to travel for so long. I did 2 weeks and that was enough this time. It was good seeing you in Amsterdam. I think the heat there made sketching a real challenge this year for many of us. Will look forward to seeing more of you posts about the trip.
