It has been lovely to have a few visiting USKers in Sydney lately and to have a few ‘adhoc’ casual meetings. Giving people only 1 day’s notice at this time of year is a little outrageous so it was great to have a group of 15 turn up on Cockatoo Island on Tuesday – with visiting Joe from Melbourne and Will from the UK.
I did more talking than sketching but still managed three sketches – all subjects I have sketched once or twice (or more!) before! But of course, this time I am using coloured ink so it is different!
I arrived early and managed a sketch before people turned up….
And then sat at the cafe sketching while waiting for the second group of sketchers to arrive on the later ferry. And then I walked around the island chatting to sketchers as I went. It is always lovely to meet first-timers and catch up with the regulars.
The island was starting to get packed with people camping and the food at the cafe was running out fast so we had an early lunch and then sat around and swapped sketchbooks… and a few stayed after lunch for a sketch or two more. This photo was taken after a few people had already left.
A great day!
