I haven’t been sketching much architecture lately so last night I just felt like a little Baroque.
I found a photo of S. Marcello al Corso in Rome and then had fun playing with colour and thinking about curves, wall layers and classical orders.
I remember well sketching this church on location during my big Long Service Leave trip back in 2010.
It’s always nice to re-visit a subject that I’ve sketched on location (even if from a photo) as I have created a special connection with it.

It’s perfectly imperfect and I can’t stop looking at that green door. Fantastico!
Thanks David. The green door was important to me!
This drawing could be a decor for opera or a theatrical scene
Thanks Nicole – that’s a nice idea!
