I normally do the OneWeek100people challenge on location, but for something different this year, I’m starting the week sketching at home. So Day 1 was just some quick marker studies done from photos.
I’m so out of practice drawing people (really haven’t been around people much when I’ve been sketching lately) so the intention was to start with shapes and volumes and not worry about features.
I had a limited palette – the first 10 were using Gold Faber Aquas and the second 10 using Tombows. Both were done on cheap cartridge paper.
And all the time I was experimenting with how much adjustment/layering I could do, and having fun with colour. It was a good low-pressure way to start the week.

Yep I got started at home today too. Too hot to go out! After getting in some practice last week of people on the beach, I did my best from my balcony watching people waiting for the lights to cross the road, and from some family photos.
It’s fun!
Well done Ginie!
I did post on Instagram but got the hashtag muddled up! I’ll get it right tomorrow!
Thanks for sharing how you got started. I doubt I’ll be able to do the challenge from life I’m happy to know i could have a go trying to do them from photos. will start this evening.
Great to hear Kimbi!
I’m so glad you posted this! Love your marker people and the fun use of colors. I lost a few weeks (dental work the past several weeks! Eek!) So the time zone difference and your post is a timely reminder!
Thanks Jamie
How nice to see this. Great incentive to get started. Only men then for your first day ? LOL
Thanks Frannie!
It’s great to know working from photos is an option. And your post is a reminder to get started on this. Thank you!
